π³ DockerCon 2023 Next Week!
I'm busy all this week with prep for DockerCon in Los Angeles starting Tuesday, October 3rd. Remember, you can sign up to watch a lot of it free. This is their first event since 2019 that's open to the public. I'm grateful to have been at every DockerCon since 2016 and spoken at every one since 2017. It's my favorite conference of the year.
I'm speaking and hosting things all next week. Some are LIVE!
π₯³ Tuesday is Day 0, full of attendee workshops and one of my favorite things, the Docker Captains Day, where we get inside access to future products and discussions with Docker leadership.
π₯³ Wednesday is Day 1 with a keynote that I expect will have things worth writing about. Expect next week's newsletter to be all about those announcements.
π My talk, Docker Rocks in Node.js (2023 Edition), will be an updated version of what I did in 2019 and 2022. It's not live-streamed but it will get posted on YouTube eventually.
π I'm (hopefully) hosting a CI/CD "Hallway Track" (aka birds-of-a-feather) with my friend and co-host Nirmal Mehta.
π₯³ Thursday is Day 2 with (I think) another keynote.
π My weekly live stream will be from the floor of DockerCon! I've done this in years past, and it's a bunch of fun to take YouTube Live chat questions from those who couldn't make it and have random guests walk up like in 2019 π¦π¦π¦.
π I'm hosting a Swarm Fans meetup "Hallway Track." Hopefully, I can stream or record that as well. I'll be reporting the details of this on Twitter and in our Discord Server #swarm channel.
π΄ Live Thursday: Learning Docker and Kubernetes Q&A
Thursday the 28th at 1PM US Eastern is my monthly 100% Q&A for my students! Focused on my Udemy and Maven course content and all things Kubernetes, Docker, GitOps, GitHub Actions, and DevOps-related.π

Ep 141: Codefresh and Argo CD with Dan Garfield
Last week we released a podcast where I was joined by Dan Garfield of CodeFresh to talk about growth of GitOps as a standard, growth of Argo, and more.
Dan is the Co-founder and Chief Open Source Officer of Codefresh, a CI/CD platform powered by GitOps and Argo. He helped launch the GitOps Working Group and helped lead the creation of the Open GitOps principles. As an Argo Maintainer, Kubernaut, Google Developer Expert, he helps companies and individuals adopt Argo with GitOps and streamline their CI/CD.
We take some great questions about how GitOps differs from just triggering deployments and other automation platforms. We also dig into the four principles of GitOps and how Codefresh uses Argo CD as a part of their CI/CD offering.
π¦ Tweet of the week
I'll discuss Compose Watch more once v2.22 is shipped in Docker Desktop (hopefully next week at DockerCon)
π In case you missed last week's newsletter
Did you miss last week's newsletter? Read it here. I wrote the third and final installment of my OCI blog: Ensure youβre ready for OCI's future. I cover how to use OCI artifacts today and a partial list of those "2nd type" tools. Enjoy!
